*UNIQUE AND EXCITING TRAINING OPPORTUNITY* POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN TRANSGENDER HEALTH RESEARCH

 

The Division of General Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital is offering a one-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Transgender Health Research for a highly motivated epidemiologist or skilled social/behavioral scientist. Applicants for the postdoctoral position must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences (e.g., public health, sociology, psychology), or related fields. The research focus is HIV and related disparities in transgender populations across the life course. The postdoctoral fellow will assist with oversight and management of a new multisite cohort of transgender patients to prospectively assess medical gender affirmation, mental health, and HIV-related outcomes. They will be responsible for ongoing research activities such as developing analysis proposals, conducting data analysis, and writing manuscripts. In addition, the fellow will participate in grant writing, the development of new projects, carry out related analyses using data from other studies, and facilitate research productivity of graduate students and junior research team members. It is expected that the fellow will apply for additional funding during the fellowship. Fellowship candidates must have extensive experience conducting statistical analyses with large databases using SAS or Stata. The fellow will have a Harvard Medical School postdoctoral appointment and a research affiliation at The Fenway Institute at Fenway Health, a local federally-qualified community health center specializing in LGBTQ healthcare and population research. The fellow will join a stimulating, interdisciplinary research environment with the opportunity to attend seminars, colloquia, and other regularly scheduled research activities at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and partnering institutions. Applications are actively encouraged from historically underrepresented groups.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* PhD, ScD or an equivalent doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, social and behavioral sciences (e.g., sociology, psychology), or related fields * Quantitative analysis skills and experience conducting statistical analyses with large databases, including longitudinal modeling.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Knowledge of transgender health, LGBTQ health disparities, and HIV-affected populations.

* Track record of, or strong potential for, independent funding.

 

SALARY: NIH-level postdoctoral fellowship stipend plus fringe benefits.

 

START DATE: Flexible, can be as early as July 2018.
